- Andy Garner, Social Prescribing Link Worker
A social prescriber is a professional who helps individuals improve their health and wellbeing by connecting them to non-medical support within their community. This can include activities like exercise classes, arts and crafts, volunteering opportunities, and support groups.
Social prescribers work with people who might have complex social needs affecting their wellbeing, such as loneliness, mental health issues, or chronic conditions. They take a holistic approach, considering the person's physical, emotional, and social needs.
Social prescribing continues to be an integral part of the healthcare system, aiming to empower individuals and reduce the burden on traditional medical services.
