Martha's Rule

Martha's Rule is a national patient safety initiative which means patients or family members can seek an urgent review if their loved one's conditional worsens and they are concerned it's not responded to.

  1. Talk to the clinical team on the ward about your concerns
  2. If you still have concerns, ask to speak with the nurse in charge on the ward
  3. If you feel your concerns haven't been addressed, call Call for Concern

You can also contact the hospitals Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS). Ask a member of staff for contact details. 

 

Call for Concern - 24 hours, 7 days a week

You will need the following information:

  • The name of the patient
  • The ward they are staying on
  • A brief description of your concerns

You Can Now Self-Refer to the Adult Eating Disorder Service

If thoughts, feelings, or actions around food, eating, or weight are affecting your physical, mental, or social wellbeing, we’re here to help.

The service supports people with all types of eating disorders aged 16 and over, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa,and Binge Eating Disorder. There is no BMI or weight

requirement to access our service—you don’t have to be underweight or overweight to have an eating disorder.

We know that asking for help can feel scary, but our experienced, non-judgmental team is here to support you.
